So I found this video on Facebook of this delicious and easy treat. I tagged my roommate in this video and when we both got home later that night we instantly made them. These treats consisted of Nutella and cinnamon sugar. So hopefully you understand the urgency of making this treat.
At this time last year, I was eating wonderful meals in Europe. And now I am in America eating wonderful meals. Everywhere I go, I find these delicious foods! This past weekend was like a flashback to being in France for me. It was full of macaroons, crepes, and croissants. These delicious treats tasted very french like to me and I do plan on going back very soon.
This past weekend my momma turned another year younger and we celebrated with some yummy cupcakes! We went to my grandma’s for lunch and then of course Grams made a yummy cake for mom. I wanted to bring a little something of my own though and thats when I got the idea for these delicious looking peanut butter cupcakes with a peanut butter cookie dough frosting on top. I found the recipe on Faceobook and had it saved away until the perfect moment. Which just so happened to be Mom’s birthday! Now, most of my experience is with cooking and not backing so I was a little nervous as to how this was going to go…
Breaking news: I may have had one of the best meals of my life this past weekend.
So I have been on a taco kit lately. Even on Pinterest, all the suggested recipes have been some form of taco or had a taco component to them. The one that caught my eye the other day was called Frito Taco Pie. The recipe was super simple, I was even able to put this together on complete spur of the moment. I did have some help though…
My roommate and I were sitting on our coach the other day contemplating what to do for lunch. We didn’t have any leftovers and didn’t want something boring. That’s when I thought of this pie!
We had the main ingredients but needed the actual crust for the pie. This is where my handy dandy roommate came in to help me. She cooked the taco meat while I went to go get the remaining ingredients!
For this wonderful pie you will need:
- 1 lb. hamburger meat
- Taco seasoning
- 1 package of crescent rolls
- Frito corn chips
- Sour cream
- Optional toppings: lettuce, diced tomatoes, or any other taco toppings you desire
You start by browning the beef and making the taco mixture (Follow instructions on back of packet). Once that is done you will set it aside and start assembling the pie.
Undo the crescent roll package and unroll the crescent rolls. You will place all 8 of the pieces in a circular pie pan with the skinny end in the middle. Once you have all the pieces in the pan, use your fingers to compress the dough to fill the bottom of the pan. This will create your crust for the pie.
You will then layer Fritos on the bottom. I used as many to just cover the bottom.
Then the taco meat! This part is easy, I used all the meat and it covered it perfectly.
After the taco meat is on you will spread sour cream on top of the meat. As much or as little as you desire!
Then the cheese is sprinkled on top! We put a lot of cheese of top but it’s just personal preference.
Your pie is now complete and perfectly assembled! Stick it in the oven at 350 for 25-30 minutes!
You will know the pie is done when the crescent rolls are cooked through (which you can find out by cutting through the pie)
I didn’t use any measurements for this recipe and just kind of winged the whole thing as I was on a bit of a time crunch but really wanted to try this recipe! It turned out really good though I thought.
A little piece of advice I offer though is to make sure that the crust is evenly spread out to the best of your ability. I was in a bit of a rush and had more crescent roll in some spots than in another. This only caused trouble when trying to cut the pie though.
Can I just say that sometimes the hardest part of these recipes is then getting it out of the pan in a decent manner to take a picture of it. It will look so good in the pan and then I try to take it out of the pan and it just completely falls apart.
Can’t win them all though I guess.
Until next time,
When I was younger I refused to help my mom in the kitchen. I didn’t like cooking and well I had no desire to learn either. She would always ask me, “How are you ever going to learn if you never let me teach you?” Well now that I’m getting older and living on my own, of course I want learn. So while I’m teaching myself a lot, I will always turn to my mom when I have questions and sometimes I like to show her what I’ve learned!
I took a little bit of a break from the blog while I am on break from school but I’m baaaaack! First of all, I want to thank all who have followed my blog these past few months. It has been an absolute blast being able to share all my food experiences with everyone! I like to think that I have learned a few things about cooking and baking because of this blog but my taste testers might think differently.
The one week of the semester that every college student dreads… Finals week. I don’t know why they make it seem like just one week of the semester is hell. In all reality it’s the week before finals that always kills me. I have several projects due this week all while trying to prepare for the finals next week. And during all this, when am I suppose to find time to eat?
Nutella, Nutella, Nutella. God’s gift to the chocolate lovers out there. Or just everyone because how could you not love Nutella, right? I ALWAYS have a jar of Nutella in my pantry. For the days that the only thing that can brighten my day is a spoonful of Nutella. The end of the semester is quickly approaching and I find myself coming home and wanting to divulge in a delicious treat to help the stress go away. Last night I tried a new Nutella treat and I want to tell you all about it!
You all probably could have guessed that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays considering I have a food blog and tell you all constantly how much I love food and well Thanksgiving is the day that I can eat my weight in food and no one will judge me. So yeah, I was pretty excited for this GLORIOUS day. I was excited for this day for another reason though…
