“Mom, can you make cookies today?” My brother asks while he is starting his homework before thanksgiving break is over. My brother and I are both in our 20’s and still ask our mom to make cookies for us when we just need a little motivation to get through the day.

I have been home form Switzerland for quite some time now and there are days that I would do anything to go back. However, I am a broke college student and can’t afford to just go back so I have to improvise. One of my all time favorite foods when I was abroad was Switzerland’s Cheese fondue and so to improvise I found a fondue pot in my mom’s basement and some swiss cheese at a international grocery store! Here’s what happened….

Earlier this fall a new restaurant opened up in St. Louis in the Soulard area. When I heard about the opening of the place I wanted to go right away. Unfortunately, life got really busy and well I was just able to make it this past weekend. The restaurant is called Twisted Ranch which is exactly as it sounds. Everything on the menu is Ranch Related and has a twist of ranch in everything.
We all know the song “Jenny from the Block” by Jennifer Lopez right? That’s where the title of this blog came from in case we are not aware of the song. And well the restaurant that I ate at with my family on Friday night before going to The Fabulous Fox to see Mama Mia! Get it? My nickname is Chubby and the restaurant was called The Block, I thought it was pretty funny…
The past couple of years for my birthday, there is only one place that I have wanted to go. With the restaurant only being in four main areas some of you may not have heard of it but one of my favorites is named 54th Street Grill and Bar. It is a tradition for me on my birthday for many reasons.
When I go out to eat, a lot of the time the food is just another part of the evening. Eating and going out to eat is all an experience. The company you are surrounded by, the stories and memories that are being created, and the experience of it all is the best part. Whether it’s staying in and cooking and or going out, there is always an experience. Even if you are just eating for one.
A couple weeks ago I made a bread that was one worth saving. The bread only lasted in my house for about 2 days. It was pretty good and was gone quick! I can’t wait to make it again even! Continue reading
